West Shore Sunset

Summer 2013 has provided the lucky residents of Cumbria with endless beautiful sunsets. The last Friday in September was no exception. The sky was just beginning to turn pink as we headed to Walney to enjoy the show.

The Lake District fells began to take on a watercolour effect.

Even the industrial bulk of the DDH looked better in this light.

On the right is the former slagbank, a small reminder of the once booming industry in the local area. Now a public walkway which provides a panoramic view of the channel in both directions.
By the time we got to West Shore the sun was heading for the horizon.
Controversial wind turbines stretch as far as the eye can see.

Black Combe seemed to be settling down for the night.
A final glimpse of the setting sun before we headed to Biggar village to see if we could spot any barn owls.

None were to be seen however, just a quartet of crows silhouetted against the sky.

Back at Channelside, the lights of the Promenade reflected as night drew in.

Goodnight!
