First hints of autumn...

The UK has enjoyed a beautiful summer this year, making it so much easier to kiss it goodbye and welcome the first hints of autum....


Formation flying, a sure sign of autumn.
















Dandelions are making sure of a plentiful supply next year.


Fungi and windfalls litter the lawn.
This year's crop is ripening nicely.













 Some blooms are fading...


... while others are putting on a colourful show.




 











Mother Nature is stocking up the larder for overwintering birds.

Robin Redbreast is keeping an eye on the proceedings.

 











Chlorophyll production is slowing down, bringing the golden colours of autumn.

Bees and late butterflies are making the most of the opportunity to gather nectar.


























Bramble seedheads guarantee a crop of blackberries next year.


Flower seedheads provide a cosy home for insects.

  2. Lovely photos Anne ! yeah autumn is certainly being kind to us this year ! I'm glad to notice quite a few different butterflies in the garden.
